Air pollution is a consequence of the emissions of gases and particulate matter derived from human activity (social and economic) and from natural sources. Among the atmospheric pollutants with different repercussions on the atmosphere, and therefore on the quality of life and ecosystems, are nitrogen oxides (NO2 and NOx), sulfur dioxide (SO2), carbon monoxide (CO), ozone (O3), particulate matter (including metals, secondary organic and inorganic compounds) and volatile organic compounds (VOCs).
This indicator shows the differences in the average annual NO2 immission concentration based on the modeling of the annual NO2 averages published by the General Directorate for Environmental Quality and Climate Change.
