AIR QUALITY

Nitrogen dioxide (NO2) concentration in the Girona region

Empitjora

ÚLTIMA ACTUALIZACIÓN: 2024-11-07

Nitrogen dioxide (NO2) is an air pollutant that mainly comes from the combustion of fossil fuels, such as motor vehicles. Exposure to this gas can have negative health effects, especially on the respiratory tract. The Observatory of Social, Environmental and Public Health Inequalities monitors the annual average of NO2 in the municipalities of the Girona region to monitor air quality and its possible impacts on the health of the population. This indicator shows the differences in average annual NO2 concentration based on the annual average NO2 models published by the Directorate General for Environmental Quality and Climate Change.
This indicator allows us to: Identify the areas with the highest levels of NO2 and, therefore, with a higher risk to health. Analyze trends over time to see if air quality is improving or worsening. Consult the indicator data and discover the NO2 levels in your municipality.
