Background information on the demographic status of our territory
Space available in homes per person
Sense lectura
The indicator shows the average number of m2 of housing available per person in that particular territory. Higher numbers indicate more space available per person in the dwelling. A municipality e.g. with an average of 45 m2 indicates that people in that municipality have on average 45 m2 of housing per person.
The analysis of the m2 available per household and person is a data of interest because it allows situations of overcrowding to emerge. Situations in which there is an excessive number of people living in the same dwelling or residential space, beyond what is considered adequate for its size or structure. The data presented here does not allow for this analysis, as it only shows the municipal (or territorial) average. In any case, it is interesting to know that severe overcrowding is considered when household members have less than 15m2 per person, and moderate overcrowding when household members only have between 15 and 20 m2 per person.
